Dr Aminazad is a respiratory and sleep specialist and consultant physician. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and a member of American Thoracic Society (ATS), The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) and Australasian Sleep Association (ASA).
He undertook most of his basic physician training at Austin Health where he passed his fellowship exam and also won an award for the most outstanding Registrar for Intern and HMO teaching in 2008 (Find more here ...). He then did one year of advanced training in ICU at Monash Medical Centre.
He finished his Respiratory advance training in 2011 and joined Eastern Heath as a Respiratory and Sleep Specialist Physician in 2012. Dr Aminazad has an interest in thoracic ultrasound and bedside management of pleural diseases. He started the pleural service at Eastern Health in 2011, advanced it in 2012 and continued his interest in pleural disease management in private hospitals since then.
Management of sleep disorders and more complex patients with respiratory failure became his interest during his sleep fellowship at Box Hill hospital in 2012. He was involved in development of NIV services and protocols in Eastern Health in 2012.
Dr Aminazad stablished Respiratory Sleep Disorder Centers (RSDC) in 2016 with the aim of providing instant and comprehensive diagnostic and clinical evaluation for patients. He has an interest in Respiratory physiology and athlete assessment. He runs RSDC respiratory laboratories which are the first private laboratory in Victoria offering comprehensive respiratory tests including Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), oxygen assessment and SWEP applications, FeNO measurements, Exercise Challenge Test and many more.
One of Dr Aminazad’s greatest interest is medical teaching. He is an adjunct lecturer at Monash university since 2010 and is involved in regular training and teaching to medical students.
Dr Aminazad has become interested in procedural respiratory medicine including bronchoscopies and specifically pleural diseases management including pneumothoraces, pleural effusions and haemorrhage. He is trained to perform ultrasound guided procedures in respiratory medicine. He has an interest in lung cancer screening, management of pulmonary nodules and masses with easy access to Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) and CT guided biopsies both in private and public hospitals.
He is also interested in respiratory and sleep related researches. He has finished a Master degree in Clinical Research Methods (MClinResMeth) at Monash University in 2012 and worked in development and designs of trials at different levels.
He has admitting rights to Epworth Richmond & Eastern and Knox private hospitals and is able to provide inpatient care at these hospitals including regular bronchoscopy service.
